Ontario Is Helping More Families Access Fertility Care

Donor Assisted Fertility

Expand Your Paths
to Parenthood.

Not every family follows the same path, and that’s okay. For couples or single individuals, donor eggs, donor sperm, and gestational surrogacy offer trusted options when your journey needs another route. Whatever brings you here, we guide  you through your choices with clarity, compassion, and support you can count on.

Gestational Surrogacy

Gestational surrogacy offers a way to grow your family when carrying a pregnancy isn’t possibly or for personal reasons. We’re here to make the process feel clearer and less overwhelming, from choosing a surrogate to the moment you meet your baby.

  • How Do I Find a Surrogate?

You may work with someone you already know or optimize your surrogate search through our partnership with (NMT). NMT offers thoughtful tools to help intended parents connect with potential surrogates through social media outreach, personalized profiles, and collaboration with the third-party agency of your choosing, while providing steady guidance throughout the search.

  • What Happens After I Choose My Surrogate?

Once you choose a surrogate, she completes medical and psychological screening as well as legal documentation to make sure the journey is safe and well supported for everyone involved. If you’re working with an agency, they will lead the psychological and legal aspects of this part of the process.

  • From there, Anova steps in on the medical side. The intended mother or an egg donor, depending on your path, goes through a standard IVF cycle so eggs can be collected. Those eggs are fertilized using sperm from the intended father or a sperm donor.

  • When embryos are ready, we help plan the transfer to the gestational carrier, who will carry the pregnancy. Along the way, our team completes the final medical checks and works closely with your agency and care partners to make sure everything is in place before moving forward.

Donor Sperm

When sperm can’t be used or isn’t available, donor sperm offers another way to grow your family. We’re here to make the process feel clear and supported as you choose a donor and move toward conception.

  • How Do I Find a Donor?

Donors may be known, such as a friend or relative, or anonymous through a licensed sperm bank. Anonymous donor sperm comes from carefully screened, well-regulated, and reputable sources.

  • What Happens After I Choose My Donor?

If you’re using anonymous donor sperm, the sperm bank has already screened and prepared it. With a known donor, we take care of the necessary testing to ensure everything is in place before treatment begins.

  • From there, donor sperm can be used as part of Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) or In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), depending on what’s right for your situation. If IVF is part of your plan, eggs are fertilized in our lab using the donor sperm.

  • Once embryos are created, we guide the next steps, preparing for transfer into the uterus of the intended mother or, when needed, a gestational carrier. Along the way, our team completes the final medical checks and works closely with your agency and care partners to make sure everything is in place before moving forward.

Donor Eggs

Using donor eggs can help individuals and couples achieve pregnancy when using their own eggs isn’t possible, or when donor eggs are part of their family-building journey, including for same-sex male couples.
Our team is here to guide you through every step, from choosing a donor to moving toward conception with clarity and care.

  • How Do I Find a Donor?

Egg donation can involve matching with a known, semi-known or anonymous donor through a trusted agency that Anova works with, or someone you know.

  • What Happens After I Choose My Donor?

Every potential egg donor is carefully evaluated against rigorous medical criteria to ensure it’s appropriate for donation. Anova is one of the few practices in Canada approved to perform these assessments and related procedures. Our team applies highly selective standards and years of experience to support safe, successful egg donation.

  • Those eggs are then fertilized using sperm from the intended father(s) or a sperm donor, depending on your path via
In Vitro fertilization (IVF).

  • Once embryos are created, we guide the next steps, preparing for transfer into the uterus of the intended mother or, when needed, a gestational carrier. Throughout the process, our team stays closely involved, helping you understand your options and move forward with clarity and support.

Fertility Law

Fertility journeys often begin with hope, questions, and a lot of new information.

When donors or surrogacy are involved, speaking with a fertility lawyer can help make the path ahead feel clearer and more settled. A fertility lawyer helps align expectations from the start. This may include:

  • Clarifying roles and intentions
  • Preparing agreements for donor arrangements or surrogacy
  • Confirming parental rights
  • Making sure everyone involved feels informed and protected

Taking care of these details early can ease uncertainty later and help you move forward with confidence.
