Dr. Prema Vaidyanathan
Dr. Prema Vaidyanathan got her MBBS from Calcutta Medical College, India and then went on to do her post-graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, London, UK. At the Royal College, she was awarded her MRCOG and FRCOG. Dr. Vaidyanathan became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada after completing her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa in 1996. She later pursued her Masters of Science training in Clinical Embryology and Andrology at Jones Institute, Eastern Virginia Medical, USA.
Dr. Vaidyanathan has been delivering patient-centred, personalized care that encompasses the spectrum from preconception care to mature woman’s health. Dr. Vaidyanthan provides minimally invasive fertility enhancing surgeries and major gynecological procedures at Etobicoke General Hospital, William Osler Health Systems. Dr. Vaidyanthan has a special interest in Integrative medicine and stress management. She is a Yoga Alliance Certified yoga and prenatal yoga instructor. Dr. Vaidyanthan is the medical director at Etobicoke Fertility Centre, Active Staff Obstetrician, and Gynecologist at Etobicoke General Hospital.
|Why did you choose your specialty?||I chose Obstetrics and Gynecology as I get the opportunity to practice the whole wide spectrum of medicine and surgery in this very unique specialty dedicated to women. There is never a dull moment!
I am privileged to look after expectant Moms and their babies in Obstetrics.
I get to practice medicine ranging from office management to emergencies and surgery to promote women’s health and prevent disease.
I am fascinated by the ever changing innovative advanced reproductive technologies. It motivates me to be a life long learner and staying abreast of current scientific knowledge. I constantly endeavour to provide the best possible evidence based personalized care to my patients to their own satisfaction.
The unique challenges and needs of our patients has also opened my mind to integrative medicine. Every intention counts in improving patient experience by wholesome compassionate care to both body and mind.
