About the Position

We are looking for a Director of People and Culture to lead the HR function and create the path of a new strategic vision for HR to match our growing needs. The ideal candidate will be an experienced HR professional who will leverage their superpower to connect and engage, to champion for Anova’s most valuable asset – our people.  He/She will be responsible for all human resources functions and will have a unique ability to understand business strategies and spearhead priorities while balancing the needs and interests of the company’s employees.  He/She will elevate the sophistication of the People and Culture function and help steer the company through a critical period of growth and evolution.


Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee all aspects of the People & Culture function, including recruitment/staffing, employee relations, training and development, performance management, total compensation, policies and procedures, retention, workplace culture, and engagement
  • Work with the executive and senior leadership teams to collaboratively build and execute on the long-term company mission and vision for all employees, by enhancing our people strategies, processes, and programs
  • Create and implement a new HR strategic plan for the company which aligns with our business strategy
  • Create a compelling and authentic employer brand strategy that resonates with both clinical and administrative employees; ensure internal and external alignment that what is being said is being done.
  • Leverage prior experience to advise senior executive leaders and support transformation and growth



  • Ensure Anova is compliant with all relevant regulatory requirements governing human rights and employee rights in the company’s operating jurisdictions (currently Ontario)
  • Create a people support function that is flexible and will scale to accommodate shifting people and culture requirements as the company grows; onboard and integrate existing employees from newly acquired clinics to assimilate them into Anova
  • Build, implement and manage a talent acquisition capability for clinical and administrative staff.
  • Be the trusted advisor to the senior leaders on all human capital and business matters that support organizational growth and/or protect the organization
  • Build a comprehensive diversity and inclusion strategy and build diversity and inclusion as a key capability throughout the organization
  • Oversee all Occupational Health and Safety Strategy including Incident Management, Emergency Preparedness, and Business Continuity.
  • Be a consultant, coach, and people leader; listen actively and with empathy, initiating dialogue directly with all staff at all levels, to enable timely action for solutions.
  • Act as a key member of the Executive team, and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company.




  • 7-10 years of related work experience, with an emphasis on engagement and change management
  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant field of study, preferably in HR, Business, or Psychology
  • CHRL or CHRE designation preferred but not required;
  • Mergers and acquisitions experience an asset, as is experience in healthcare, pharma or professional services
  • Outstanding listening, collaboration and team building skills that facilitate coordination across departments, with the demonstrated ability to lead with both courage and humility
