Dr. Gwen Goodrow
Dr. Gwen Goodrow has always been captivated by the fertility field. After completing first a Master’s degree in embryology and working in as in vitro fertilization technician, she continued her studies to become a physician. She completed her Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/Gyn) residency at McMaster University, and finished her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) in the US.
As an REI, Dr. Goodrow is a specialist who sees patients who are referred to her by another physician for a variety of fertility-related concerns. Often, this is for difficulty conceiving or carrying a pregnancy, but also includes seeing patients who are dealing with polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, recurrent pregnancy loss, as well as fibroids.
Why did you choose your speciality | I chose to become a specialist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility for several reasons. I started out as a lab person working with sperm, eggs and embryos. This was in the days where IVF was just getting started. I could see that this was a world that would always be changing and I wanted to be part of that. Then I realized how much I loved working with people and helping them to create a family. So with that in mind, I applied to medical school with the sole purpose of becoming a Fertility Specialist. |
