Personally, after surviving many years of infertility and undergoing numerous tests, medications, surgeries, unsuccessful intrauterine inseminations (IUIs) and in-vitro fertilizations (IVFs), Dara and her partner turned to gestational surrogacy. Today, they are the very lucky parents of two young daughters; each one carried by a different and wonderful Gestational Surrogate.

Reina Zatylny MSW, RSW

Counsellor

Reina understands many of the concerns that people face as they experience infertility, having gone through fertility issues herself. It’s her personal goal to help people stay emotionally healthy as they try to have a baby when it’s not working “the old-fashioned way.”

Reina has conducted and published award-winning, original research about the psychological impacts of infertility on couples, and she developed an innovative counseling tool to help couples cope with stresses in their relationships. Reina is also a contributing author to Embrace Your Fertility. Reina's chapter provides a case study of a couple going through infertility, and demonstrates how she counsels couples so that they can successfully work through the many challenges of infertility.

Reina’s services include counseling for the stress that often accompanies an infertility diagnosis and the decision-making about treatment options. Her counseling also includes coping with loss, grief, and disappointment, and diminishing the fear of needles (“needle phobia”) so that hormone injections are more manageable. In couples counseling, Reina discusses the impact of infertility on the relationship, third party reproduction options, stopping treatment and moving on, and discussing donor conception with the children. Reina also provides the required consultations for egg and sperm donors as well as gestational carriers.

Reina is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers (OCSW), Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), and EMDR Canada. Reina has a private practice with offices conveniently located in downtown Toronto, Thornhill, and Scarborough.
